BIBO Water Filter

Bibo comes in eight different colours, ranging from standard tones to those which are much more wacky and vibrant.  It cost about £75 to fit but if you have a handy man around then it is a very simple job.  It connects directly onto the water supply under your sink.  A small hole needs to be drilled into the work surface no larger than a pencil so it is very discreet.

The Bibo encourages you and the family to drink more water and it is great for having instant boiling water so you can say goodbye to your kettle and I also use it for filling saucepans for cooking.
We’ve also been using the Bibo to fill our flasks and hot water bottles, and water bottles before going out, so I no longer waste money on buying bottled water anywhere ever again!
I absolutely love it and think it is worth every penny.  I bought the BIBO bar which was £299 plus I pay about £69 per year for filter change.  There is another option out there which is called Virgin Pure.  This is also a fantastic machine, very similar but you pay instalments of about £25.00 per month which will include filters and maintenance.  I just decided that I would rather pay for the filter outright and not have monthly payments for ever more.  My partner has the Virgin Pure filter which is also an excellent piece of kit!
Check out the Bibo's website for all the information.

A salad you won't get bored with!

When clients ask my advice about what they should eat, I always promote this quick, easy and extremely healthy salad.

Now,  I'm not talking about a limp piece of iceberg lettuce and some droopy cucumber and a bit of tomato that often accompanies a meal which us Brits class as a 'salad'!!  I am talking about making it interesting and tasty so you don't get bored!  And start reaching for the convenient sandwich that really doesn't fill you up and can often make you bloated and tired.  This is the No 1 complaint of many of us that eat too much bread and pasta.

I suggest you prepare a humungous bowl of this salad at the beginning of the week and then when you get home from work, tired and ravenous, instead of reaching for the biscuit tin and the fizz, you can sit down to a scrumptious salad!

Just try this salad and you will be hooked, I promise you!! It's quick and easy to make and is jam packed full of nutrition.

These are some suggestions for ingredients:-

sugar snap peas
cucumber
courgette
radishes
olives
seed mix
nuts
avocado
red onion
carrots
feta cheese
spinach
alfafa sprouts
lentil pea and bean shoots (sainsburys)
corn cobs
chilli if you like it spicy
grated beetroot
grated carrot
grated ginger
coriander
parsley
sun dried tomatoes
vine tomatoes
spring onions
raw mushrooms
gherkins
peppers
salmon flakes (you can buy ready made in the fish section of most supermarkets)

the list goes on, just throw in anything you like!!

Add quinoa and bulgar wheat which you can buy from sainsburys or waitrose.  Quinoa is a complete source of protein and bulgar wheat isn't actually wheat so neither of these two ingredients contain gluten which is often a culprit that causes bloatedness.  It bulks the salad up and makes it more filling.

I then liberally pour linseed oil over the salad.  It's delicious and has numerous health benefits.  You can use it in smoothies and pour over jacket potatoes instead of butter!  You can buy the linseed oil from Flax Farm in Southwater  Speak to Clare, she is a mind of information about linseeds and will tell you all about the enormous benefits linseeds or flaxseeds have when it comes to digestion.

Squeeze loads of lemon over the salad to give it some zest!

I hope you enjoy this.

Don't diet, just change your way of eating and the key ingredient is PREPARATION PREPARATION!!

Poor preparation means grabbing for sandwiches, chocolate bars, crisps and fizz which all make us feel rubbish!!

Delicious Smoothie!

I'm often asked by clients, "what to eat in the morning if I can't have toast".  This is a delicious option which will really fill you up until lunchtime.  If you're not a breakfast person, then put it in a flask and have whenever you feel like during the morning.  Great for that train or car journey instead of a coffee and pastry!!

See the ingredients below, Linseed OilHemp PowderLinseed Meal, frozen banana, (I freeze my bananas (don't forget to peel first!), big chunk of ginger (great anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine for those hay fever sufferers) and an apple for sweetness, pears are great too and useful for constipation! Also dates or figs are nice and a tangerine and grapes! You can also add any frozen fruit which is also really convenient making the smoothie nice and chilled! Finish off with any nut milk, just buy the long life from the supermarket, oat milk, hemp, almond or soya. Use as much or as little as you want depending on how thick/thin you want it!

Just chuck in the blender, you must have a decent blender that is capable of crushing ice etc, a really good one is the Magimix and the top of the range is the Vitamix but I am sure there are some reasonably priced ones, just have a look!  This Kenwood Blender has some good reviews but personally if you can, I'd go for at least the Magimix.  It really is worth investing in a good bit of kit though, if you are serious about getting healthy! Just forfeit a meal out, a new dress, starbucks, bottle of wine etc and you'll soon have a new blender that you will use everyday for the rest of your life!!

2 minutes later and it is ready to eat/drink, just put some hot water and a dash of washing up liquid in your blender and then whizz it up and your blender is clean!  Come on!! There really aren't any "I haven't got time in the morning excuses" for this delicious jam packed nutritious smoothie!  Enjoy!

Coffee Enemas

Coffee Enema: a Unique, Very Powerful Detoxification Method

Coffee enema is unique among therapies that enhance gallbladder function and benefit liver health: not only does it improve bile flow, it prevents the resorption of bile and the toxins contained in expelled bile.
Why is that good?
You may not know this, but the body recycles bile up to 10 times, reabsorbing bile and bile salts through the intestinal walls. It is one of the ways the body conserves its resources.
That worked fine eons ago when we lived in a younger, more pristine world. Today, it is advantageous to help our bodies eliminate bile faster.
Here's why...
Bile carries toxins out of the liver through the gallbladder. Because bile is reused, a large portion of the toxins tends to be reabsorbed along with the bile.
Choloretic (bile flow stimulating) herbs like dandelion, milk thistle and oregon grape can help increase bile flow and benefit fat digestion. HOWEVER, they do NOT keep bile, bile salts, and toxins carried in the bile from re-toxifying your body.
Just stimulating bile flow with herbs will not quickly detoxify the body.
But coffee enema WILL!
Coffee enema activates and intensifies certain enzyme systems that ensure that around 98% of toxins in released bile will be safely carried out of your body!
It does not allow the liver to reabsorb toxic bile through the permeable walls of the gut. Therefore, it is the most effective means of utilizing natural enzyme systems of the liver and small intestine to detoxify the blood stream.

Translation: Coffee enema helps you feel FANTASTIC!

Potters Malt Extract

Potters Malt Extract

I was told today by a lady in her seventies that this is amazing in helping with constipation.  It is quite high in sugar but she just takes about a teaspoon a day and remembers being given it to her by her mother during the war.  She takes the Malt Extract with Cod Liver Oil.  It is very inexpensive so I highly recommend giving it a try!

On the Potters website there are two other products that I also recommend.

Potters Cleansing Herbs

And/Or

Potters Cleansing Herb Tablets

For Indigestion, flatulence, heartburn and dyspepsia

Just a spoonful of malt extract could banish winter sniffles?

Revive Active - A high quality health food supplement containing 26 active ingredients delivered in one convenient daily sachet.

Last week when I was out at Juicy Oasis Spa & Health Retreat two Irish ladies in their fifties were telling me about a fantastic supplement that comes from Ireland that they have both been taking for the last couple of years.  They said it gave them more energy, improved sleep, skin felt more plumped and an all round feeling of general wellness.

There are four main building blocks that make Revive Active the health supplement it is. Imagine a health supplement that increases energy levels, aids with cardiovascular upkeep, boosts the immune system and is also an anti-ageing agent.

It is expensive, approximately £55.00 per month but for those of you out there who are willing and happy to pay this, I would definitely give it a trial!  Check out the testimonials.

Natural Hair Dye

Natural henna hair dye by Renaissance Henna

If you are thinking that you used to use Henna and your hair went red/ginger, well it is the Indigo (another plant powder) that you use together with the Henna powder that gives your hair a lovely natural brown colour with reddish undertones, all very dependant on what your original hair colour is.  Please see link below for a You Tube version which gives you a complete guide on what to do!

Henna & Indigo - How to do it!!

About 8 months ago a friend of mine told me about a lady that she had met at a Health & Beauty show who had been dying her hair with henna. My friend said her hair looked really shiny and in good condition. She had taken her card and passed it onto me.

I have been dying my hair for a number of years with all sorts of products including home dyes and going to the hairdresser.  I was starting to feel that although initially my hair was shiny and felt in good condition, I noticed it was actually started to dull. I was also noticing at the hairdressers that  my head would slightly burn whilst waiting the 45 minutes or so for the colour to take. The hairdresser assured me this was okay and for the sake of beauty I 'grimaced' and beared it!

So one day I remembered the card my friend had gave me and I phoned the lady. She was extremely helpful giving me lots of information. She directed me to renaissance hair website which I thoroughly read through and was very impressed with.

I ordered the 'starter kit' which includes henna and indigo, both different powders when mixed together give a lovely brunette with reddish undertones depending on your own colour hair to begin with of course.

The kit stayed under my bed for about 3 months because the instructions sounded a right faff to be honest so I continued trotting off to the hairdresser to get my roots done and to feel the burn!

One day I decided it was time to give it a go! Well that was 8 months ago and I can't tell you how pleased I am with the results! Yes I have to have this muddy concoction in my hair for about 3 hours but the result is lovely, soft, deep colour tines and very shiny hair! People comment on my hair regularly so I have decided to share this information on my blog!

Covers grey and makes it feel really shiny and soft!

Henna powder, just add water!

If you are trying to give up alcohol for whatever reason whether it's medical, pregnancy or simply giving your liver a break, try this website. I have heard fantastic reports from clients and it has raving reviews!  Alcohol free wines are much better for you and far less calorific than ordinary wine.

Great tasting alcohol free drinks delivered straight to your door!

"I just wanted to say a massive 'Thank you'!, for saving my sanity!. I am 4 months pregnant and socializing with my friends and husband is becoming more and difficult. I am sooo terribly bored of Orange Juice and Diet Coke, that it has got to a point where I won't socialise. That was of course until I found your website. I ordered my first wines and read your instructions. I followed them to the letter, but of course I was skeptical. That was until I opened my first bottle of Merlot on a Saturday night, in front of a really good film and took the first sip!. I was utterly amazed. I really thought it would taste like grape juice!. It absolutely tasted amazing. I was so excited that I asked my husband to try the wine and he couldn't believe how good it tasted. It really has transformed my weekends and now when I see my friends, I can take one of your bottles with me and feel like I am a part of society again. The taste of the wine is just phenomenal. I really tasted the grapes and savored every mouth full. I really didn't notice that there was no alcohol in it at all - in fact I got a little red cheeked afterwards, so tricked my mind into thinking there was plenty of alcohol in it. I then opened the white wine, thinking I wouldn't get that lucky to get two great wines and again, I was surprised. It too tasted just like my favorite wine. I can't thank you enough. You have put a smile back on my face!

Featured here the Daily Mail article about the benefits of alcohol free wine.

Carl Jung sparkling white wine, £4.99 medium dry and refreshing with peachy notes, voted clear winner. Great for parties!
